Scenes, upgraded
A scene is a set of actions that happen together. A routine is a scene with a schedule and more flexibility, so it can run at set times or be adjusted when needed.
Everyday examples
Routines can handle a lot of daily life:
- Open shades at 7:00 AM
- Turn on landscape lighting at dusk
- Lock doors and arm security at bedtime
- Lower shades when the afternoon sun hits
- Turn off all audio and video when you leave
Easy to adjust
The new Control4 experience lets homeowners tweak routines without waiting for a dealer, while dealers can still design the more complex logic.
Try it
Our interactive Control4 demo on the Control4 page includes a Routines screen you can tap.
Triggers
- A time of day, or sunrise and sunset
- A button press on a keypad or remote
- A door unlocking with a specific user's code
- Motion, a door sensor or a water sensor
- Arming or disarming the alarm
Good routines to start with
- Morning: open shades, turn on kitchen lights, start music
- Arrive home: lights on at the entry when the door unlocks after dark
- Away: lights off, doors locked, thermostat set back
- Night: exterior lights off at midnight, doors locked
- Vacation: lights on and off in a lived-in pattern
Common questions
Can I change routines myself?
