Control4 repair
Control4 not working?
App says the system is offline, lights don't respond, the remote does nothing or music won't play. Here are the usual causes, what you can try, and when to call us.
Authorized DealerMost Control4 problems come from a handful of causes: a network change, a controller that needs a restart or update, an expired subscription, or wireless devices that lost their connection. Many can be fixed remotely once we can reach your system; others need a visit.
We repair Control4 systems no matter who installed them. If your original dealer is gone, we can also take over your system so you have support going forward.
Common problems
What usually causes it.
- App says "system offline": the controller lost its network connection, often after a new router or internet provider changed the addresses the system depends on
- Remote access stopped working: the 4Sight subscription expired or the account email changed
- Lights or keypads not responding: a wireless lighting device dropped off the network, or a controller needs a restart or update
- Remote or touch screen dead: battery, charging base or a device that needs to be re-identified
- TV or music not playing: a streaming app or TV update changed how the device is controlled, or the driver is out of date
- Everything slow: an older controller or an overloaded Wi-Fi network
Before you call
Safe things to try.
- Restart your internet modem and router, wait five minutes, then reopen the Control4 app
- Check that your phone is on your home Wi-Fi when you're at home
- Put the remote back on its charging base for an hour
- Power-cycle the controller only if you know which one it is and it's easy to reach
- Write down what stopped working and when; it speeds up the fix
FAQ
Control4 not working?: common questions
Why does my Control4 app say the system is offline?
Usually the controller lost its connection to your network, most often after a new router or a change by your internet provider. It's one of the most common and fixable Control4 problems.
Can you fix Control4 remotely?
Often, yes, once we have access to your system. Network, driver and programming issues are frequently fixed without a visit. Hardware problems need a technician on site.
My lights stopped responding to the keypad. Is it broken?
Not necessarily. Wireless lighting devices can lose their connection, especially after power outages. We check the device, the wireless network and the controller before replacing anything.
Do you fix Control4 systems other dealers installed?
Yes. We service Control4 systems from any installer, and we can become your dealer if your original one is gone.
What if my system is too old to fix?
Some older controllers can't run current software. An upgrade keeps your wiring and most devices and puts the system on current Control4 OS.
