What you are really paying for is the devices in each room (keypads, dimmers, shade motors, speakers, touch screens, cameras, locks) plus the wiring and the programming that makes them work together.
As a rough guide: a single room, like a home theater with lighting and audio tied together, often lands in the $5,000 to $10,000 range installed. A full-home system with several rooms of lighting, shades, whole-home audio, video, cameras and a security integration commonly runs $15,000 to $30,000 or more, depending on the number of rooms and how much of the home is included.
None of that has to happen at once. Control4 is built to expand, so a lot of homeowners start with the room that matters most and add on later.
