What to run
The Control4 pre-wire checklist.
- Equipment location: a central rack or closet with ventilation, a dedicated circuit and conduit to the main TV areas
- Network: Cat6 to every TV, office, and ceiling Wi-Fi access point location
- TVs: Cat6 and HDMI conduit at each TV, plus in-wall power behind wall-mounted TVs
- Audio: speaker wire from each speaker location back to the rack, and to volume keypads
- Lighting: deeper boxes and neutral wires at keypad and dimmer locations; agree keypad spots with the electrician
- Shades: power or low-voltage wire at each motorized shade, and shade pockets where planned
- Security: Cat6 to each camera, door station and gate, plus alarm panel and sensor wiring
- Climate: thermostat wiring with a common wire, coordinated with HVAC
- Touch screens: Cat6 at kitchen, entry and primary bedroom screen locations
- Outdoors: speaker wire and Cat6 to patios, pools and outdoor TVs, with conduit where needed

We walk the framed house with you or your builder, mark every location, run and label the cables, and leave a map of what went where. We come back for trim and final to install devices and program the system. Because we coordinate with the other trades, low voltage doesn't hold up drywall, and nothing gets buried that shouldn't be.
