Fixed mounts
A fixed mount holds the TV close to the wall for the slimmest look. It is ideal when the TV sits at eye level and you always watch from the same spot.
Tilting mounts
A tilting mount lets you angle the TV down. It is popular above fireplaces or in bedrooms, and helps reduce glare from windows and lights.
Full-motion mounts
A full-motion mount extends and swivels so you can face the TV toward different seating areas. It is great for open-plan rooms, kitchens and corner installs. Because the arm extends, wall strength and anchoring matter even more.
Which is right?
Match the mount to how you use the room:
- One seating area at eye level: fixed
- TV higher than eye level or glare: tilting
- Multiple seating areas or corners: full-motion
Bracket and pricing
Standard mounting prices at 1800Install do not include the bracket. You can choose a fixed, tilting or full-motion bracket when you book, and your technician brings it to the appointment.
Think about the wall, too
Full-motion arms put a lot of leverage on the wall when extended, so they need solid anchoring into studs, masonry or a backing board. A single stud in the middle of the wall can limit where a full-motion mount can go. Fixed and tilting mounts spread the load more evenly and are more forgiving.
Depth and the slim look
Fixed mounts keep most TVs within about an inch or two of the wall. Tilting mounts add a little more depth. Full-motion arms sit a few inches out when folded. Corners and open floor plans
A full-motion mount shines when the TV needs to face a kitchen island in the morning and the sofa at night, or when it's in a corner. Make sure cables have enough slack for the arm to move, and that the TV clears nearby walls when it swivels.
Weight and size ratings
Every mount has a maximum weight and a VESA pattern range (the hole spacing on the back of the TV). Choose a mount rated above your TV's weight. For TVs 85 inches and larger, a heavy-duty mount is essential. See large TV mounting.

Which mount is best over a fireplace?

Can a full-motion mount go on drywall only?
No. It must be anchored into studs, masonry or proper backing.
