Mounting a TV over a fireplace
It's the most requested TV spot, and the one that most needs a plan: heat, height, what's inside the wall and where the wires go.
Over the fireplace is often the only wall that works, and it can look great. The questions are whether the wall gets too hot for the TV, whether the TV will sit too high for comfortable viewing, and whether we're drilling into studs, brick, stone or a chimney chase.
We check heat, measure viewing height from your seat, and recommend either a fixed or tilting mount or a pull-down mount that brings the TV to eye level when you watch.

- Measure heat at the mount location with the fireplace running if needed
- Measure eye height from your main seat
- Recommend fixed, tilting or pull-down mount
- Mount into studs, or into brick and stone with masonry anchors
- Route power and HDMI in-wall or through the chase where possible
- Mount the soundbar and set up remotes

Mounting a TV over a fireplace: common questions
Is it safe to put a TV over a fireplace?
Often yes, if the wall stays within the TV maker's temperature limits. A mantel usually helps. We check before installing and tell you honestly if it's not a good spot.
Won't the TV be too high?
It can be. A tilting mount helps, and a pull-down mount brings the TV down to eye level when you watch.
Can you mount on brick or stone?
Yes. We use masonry anchors and drill into mortar or stone as appropriate. See mounting on brick or plaster.
Can the wires be hidden?
Usually. Depending on the wall and chimney we run wires in-wall, through the chase or behind the mantel.
