- Top and bottom of stairs: stair and hallway lights
- Bedside: Good Night, reading lights, shades
- Kitchen: task, dinner and cleanup scenes
- Media room door: Movie, Intermission, Lights Up
How many buttons?
Fewer is better. Most keypads work best with three to six clearly engraved buttons. If a keypad needs more, it's usually a sign that some buttons belong somewhere else or should become a scene.
Where apps shine
Apps are best for things that don't need a button on the wall: checking the house while away, adjusting schedules, controlling a room you're not in, and one-off changes. Voice control fills the gap for quick requests.
